GATOR KIDS HEALTHY SMILES
To all members of the Florida Medical Community who provide medical care to young children, especially those enrolled in Medicaid.
The Agency for Health Care Administration has announced Medicaid reimbursement to physicians, advanced registered nurse practitioners and physician assistants for Early Childhood Caries (ECC) preventive procedures. We have been providing free in-office training to medical practices, county health departments and FQHCs about these procedures for the last two years. A brief description of the educational program follows and covers all the main steps required for reimbursement from Medicaid. The presentation covers 5 major topics including:
- Etiology and clinical aspects of Early Childhood Caries (ECC)
- Performance of an oral screening examination for ECC
- Risk Assessment for ECC
- Application of Fluoride Varnish
- Anticipatory Guidance for Parents/caregivers and referral to a dental home.
The presentation takes about 1 hour and can be scheduled at your convenience. The presentation is made by a specially trained dental hygienist. There are no costs to you for this educational programming. This is not a commercial presentation. This activity is endorsed by both state professional organizations. If you would like to schedule an educational presentation, please email me at fcatalanotto@dental.ufl.edu or call my office at 352-273-5984; leave a message with name, telephone number and address of the office. We will then have somebody contact you to schedule the presentation at your convenience.
Sincerely,
Frank Catalanotto, DMD
