How can primary care teams strengthen their approach when working with rural adolescent and child health? The National Rural Adolescent and Child Health (NRACH) initiative and Rural Behavioral Health Resource Library are here to help! The AAP has established the NRACH ECHO Training Center to ensure children living in rural and frontier communities have access to quality pediatric care as well as behavioral and mental health services.
The Florida Chapter of AAP is highlighting specific ECHOs and other AAP resources to promote elevated care for rural adolescent and child health:
- Anxiety and Depression
The goal of this ECHO is to build confidence in rural primary care providers delivering quality behavioral and mental health care, with a focus on anxiety and depression. - Mental Health and Substance Use
The goal of this ECHO is to provide pediatricians with knowledge and skills when addressing substance use concerns in adolescents through screening, brief intervention, and referral to treatment in a rural healthcare setting. - Substance Use Treatment
The goal of this ECHO is to equip pediatricians with knowledge and skills related to screening, referral pathways, and treatment options when addressing substance use in rural health. - Rural Youth Mental Health
The goal of this ECHO is to support primary care providers in rural and frontier areas by identifying and treating mental health concerns in children and adolescents. - Obesity
The goal of this ECHO is to increase knowledge, skills, and self-efficacy of pediatric providers in providing best-practice care regarding obesity.
