FCAAP ADVOCACY

FCAAP’s advocacy initiatives provide its membership with a strong and respected presence in Tallahassee. Pediatricians play a pivotal role in advocating for just pediatric health laws and sound public policies relating to child health, and we know that when they speak through FCAAP, their voices are amplified. FCAAP’s advocacy program provides Florida pediatricians with:

  • The services of professional lobbyists in Tallahassee who ensure that pediatricians’ voices are front and center when laws and policies concerning child health are being crafted.
  • Consistent and thoughtful communications to lawmakers that encourage state and national leaders to put children first.
  • Opportunities to engage directly with lawmakers through calls to action that mobilize the pediatric community as a unified force.
  • Programs that facilitate in-person conversations with elected officials and agency decision makers.
  • Collaboration with other state and national advocacy organizations that increases the effectiveness of your advocacy.

FCAAP is actively engaged in the annual Florida Legislative Session to achieve its members’ top priority goals for the year. Be a part of our advocacy efforts on behalf of kids in Florida and join FCAAP today!

Call to Action: Protect Florida’s School Vaccine Requirements

In September, Florida’s Governor and Surgeon General announced plans to end the state’s vaccine requirements for school entry. Last week, the Florida Department of Health scheduled a workshop for December 12 in Panama City on proposed changes to Florida Administrative Code Rule 64D-3.046 which requires chickenpox, hepatitis B, Hib, and pneumococcal vaccines for school entry. Although we do not have the official proposed rule language, we anticipate the proposed changes to include removal of all four of these vaccines from the requirements.

FCAAP is working to protect school vaccine requirements for Florida’s students. As part of these efforts, FCAAP is working with Florida Families for Vaccines to collect public comments to submit to the Department of Health on the proposed rule changes.

We need your help NOW! Please click here to submit your personal comments and stories about:

  • how removing school vaccine requirements would impact your family, your patients, or your community;
  • the importance of the chickenpox, hepatitis B, Hib, and pneumococcal vaccines for children’s health;
  • the impact you’ve seen these diseases have on children and families; and/or
  • the dangerous consequences removing these four vaccines from the requirements may have on our communities and economy.

Please make your comments and stories personal to show the real impact these changes will have on our families and communities.
