Honoring Florida’s Youth Lost to Gun Violence

Dec 10, 2021 | News

Gun deaths rose 8% in Florida last year.

To honor this preventable loss of life, Giffords is installing 3,000 vases of flowers at Bayfront Park in Miami to commemorate the 3,000 Floridians killed by gun violence last year.

FCAAP’s Gun Violence Prevention Task Force encourages you to visit the Miami Gun Violence Memorial to reflect, learn, and urge our leaders to take action. The Gun Violence Memorial is open for public viewing December 13–17, 2021.

FCAAP Members and the public are also invited to join us at Giffords’ Miami Gun Violence Memorial at Bayfront Park on Tuesday, December 14, 2021 from 6-7pm ET for a candlelight vigil commemorating all of the children killed by gun violence every year. The vigil falls on the anniversary of the Sandy Hook shooting, so its theme will be the impact that gun violence has on young people. Confirmed speakers include Gabby Giffords, Debbie Mucarsel-Powell, Fred Guttenberg, Parkland survivor Lizzie Eaton, Rabbi Robyn Fisher, and local activist Anthony Durden.
