Jul 21, 2023 | Press Releases

Following a recent vacancy in the Vice President position, The Florida Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics (FCAAP) has appointed two new Officers to its Board of Directors, effective July 21, 2023.

“On behalf of the Florida Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics, I’m pleased to announce that Dr. Rana Alissa has accepted the nomination to move to the position of Vice President and Dr. Jennifer Takagishi has accepted the nomination to move to Secretary. I thank them both for agreeing to serve and look forward to working with them in their new roles,” said FCAAP President Thresia B. Gambon, MD, MBA, MPH, FAAP.

Rana Alissa, MD, FAAP will vacate the Secretary role and serve as Vice President for the remainder of the 2022-2024 term.

Jennifer Takagishi, MD, FAAP will vacate the Region 3 Representative role to replace Dr. Alissa as Secretary for the remainder of the 2022-2024 term. The Region 3 Representative position will remain vacant until the newly elected 2023-2025 Board of Directors is inducted this Fall at FCAAP’s annual conference, The Future of Pediatric Practice 2023.

The moves are a result of Vice President Juan Felipe Rico, MD, FAAP accepting a new professional role and stepping down from being the Vice President. “Dr. Rico was a tremendous asset to the Chapter and remains a fantastic advocate for Florida’s kids. We thank him for his tireless efforts and wish him all the best in his new endeavor,” concluded Dr. Gambon.
