DISASTER ASSISTANCE FOR BUSINESSES AND INDIVIDUALS

If your pediatric practice suffered economic or physical injury resulting Hurricane Ian, help may be available through the state of Florida’s Small Business Emergency Bridge Loan program. Gov. Ron DeSantis activated the program on Tuesday, Oct. 4, making available $50 million in short-term, no-interest loans to affected businesses in 22 Florida counties.

FLORIDA POLICY INSTITUTE LAUNCHES HURRICANE IAN RELIEF RESOURCE TRACKER

Navigating the recovery resources available to the public in the aftermath of a disaster can seem overwhelming. In response, the Florida Policy Institute has created the “Hurricane Ian Response: Safety Net Policy Tracker” to help Floridians harmed by the storm access the assistance they need as quickly and efficiently as possible. The tracker provides the latest information about storm recovery; details about the resources that have been mobilized by federal, state, and local government agencies; and links to apply for assistance.

LICENSED HEALTH CARE PRACTITIONERS NEEDED FOR HURRICANE IAN RECOVERY

In the wake of Hurricane Ian, the Florida Department of Health (DOH), in conjunction with Volunteer Florida, is requesting the assistance of licensed health care professionals to volunteer their assistance in support of storm recovery efforts. In Florida, more than 200 shelters are in operation to serve displaced Floridians. In addition, rescue efforts continue for those who did not evacuate ahead of the storm.
