The state of Florida’s medical loan reimbursement program has generated much interest among FCAAP members. Florida Pediatricians Urge State Officials to Order COVID-19 Vaccines for Children Under 5

Following the failure of Florida leaders to pre-order COVID-19 vaccines for children younger than 5 years, the Florida Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics (FCAAP) is working to find options for Florida families who want to protect their youngest children, while urging Gov. DeSantis to reconsider a decision that puts thousands of infants, toddlers, and young children in Florida at risk.

FCAAP REJECTS NEW AND PROPOSED POLICIES TO RESTRICT GENDER-AFFIRMING CARE FOR YOUTH

Following the release of new Florida Department of Health guidelines advising against the provision of gender-affirming healthcare for children, AHCA’s decision not to provide gender-affirming care to children and adolescents under Medicaid, and the state surgeon general’s request that the Florida Board of Medicine develop a standard of care for the treatment of all children with gender dysphoria, the Florida Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics today released the following statement urging caution and reconsideration.

FCAAP NAMES 2022 LUTHER W. HOLLOWAY AWARD WINNERS

Since 1965, the Florida Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics has recognized medical students who have shown outstanding ability and exemplary service within a Florida medical school’s pediatric department. Named in honor of the Chapter’s first president, the Luther W. Holloway Award is given annually to graduating students from Florida’s medical school pediatric departments. Congratulations to the 2022 recipients!
